Cotap is a GPS-based workforce attendance platform designed for organisations that need to verify employee presence at specific locations. The client needed a reliable system to replace manual attendance registers and eliminate the widespread problem of proxy attendance. We designed and developed a cross-platform mobile application with real-time location verification, admin dashboards, and automated reporting.
The project involved building a mobile application for employees to check in and out of work locations, with GPS verification to ensure authenticity. An admin dashboard was developed to allow managers to monitor attendance records, identify anomalies, and generate reports. The system also included configurable geofencing parameters and automated notifications for late arrivals or missed check-ins.
The core feature of Cotap is its GPS-based check-in system. Employees use the mobile app to check in when they arrive at work. The app captures their location and verifies it against predefined geofenced areas around the workplace. This ensures that employees are physically present at the location when they check in, eliminating the possibility of proxy attendance.
The geo-fencing system allows administrators to define virtual boundaries around work locations. When employees enter or leave these areas, the system automatically records their attendance. This feature ensures that employees are only able to check in or out when they are physically present within the designated zones, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of attendance data.
Cotap includes smart attendance tracking that automatically flags anomalies such as late arrivals, early departures, or missed check-ins. Employees can also submit movement requests through the app if they need to check in from a different location, which managers can approve or deny based on the circumstances.
The admin dashboard provides managers with a comprehensive view of attendance records, allowing them to monitor employee check-ins, identify patterns, and generate reports. The dashboard includes features such as filtering by date, location, and employee, as well as visualizations to help managers quickly assess attendance trends and address any issues that arise.
